inside out

I went out last night. To see a play.

Look Mummy, I'm Dancing was written and performed by a single woman, Vanessa van Durme, who was born in Belgium in 1948, as a man. It is a gentle, warm, funny, chest.aching telling of her experience of becoming a woman. Of becoming herself.

Most people are lucky in that they don't need to reconcile such a stark difference between their inside and their outside selves. But many women I speak to do feel like their made-for-others-exterior doesn't reflect the person within. They want to align the two but they don't know how.

I tell them: it's possible. It takes thought, time, energy and courage. (but the results are worth it: heightened authenticity, stronger connection and greater happiness).
